The Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha or SLBSRSV in short, is a Deemed to be University by the parliament of India. It is situated in the Qutub Institutional Area at Katwaria Sarai in New Delhi and operates as a central autonomous body under the Ministry Of Human Resource Development of the Government of India.

The SLBSRSV Institute comprises of four faculties that include the ‘Faculty of Veda – Vedanga’, ‘Faculty of Darshan’, ‘Faculty of Sahitya and Sanskriti’ & the ‘Faculty of Adhunika Jnana and Vijnana’.

The Faculty of Veda – Vedanga, Faculty of Darshan  & Faculty of Sahitya and Sanskriti offer study and the teaching facilities that allows students to obtain a 3-year degree in the courses of Shastri, Shastri (Hons.) and a 2-year course in Acharya which is in different disciplines of the Sanskrit studies.

The Faculty of Adhunika Gyan Vigyan offers teaching facilities that awards a completion course of one year in ‘Shiksha Shastri’ or teacher – training course for advanced study in Shiksha Shastra called ‘Shikshacharya’.

The SLBSRSV Institute has an independent department of Research & Publication that churns out its own publications that have been written by many reputed scholars of the country. It also publishes a research journal named ‘Shodha – Prabha’.

The SLBSRSV Institute has also been organising successful Vocational courses in Sanskrit, Hindi, Shastri courses of study and Computer Application courses since 1994 – 95 including different certificate courses in related subjects. Scholars who are keen to pursue further knowledge on research work are welcome to join any of these faculties offered in different branches of Sanskrit learning.

The SLBSRSV Institute has been organising functions, coupled with bringing out several publications in several newspapers and other means of communication through the media and hence has excelled in offering awareness to the public by establishing the glory of the Sanskrit literature and language in the country and the globe. This awareness has resulted in the encouragement of various volunteers to come forward to work in this field which was otherwise unknown. The Institute has attracted numerous achievements and has been praised by the former Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi for its works in the field of Sanskrit literature.

The SLBSRSV Institute has received great accolades by members of parliament, personalities, leaders and legislative assembly members, industrialists and the public in general over the past 30 years. It has gained attention as one of the leading institutes in the field of Sanskrit literature and language and has immensely contributed to the field of Research and Publications and hence has been a strong advocator in the cultural awakening.

The Vidyapeetha offers a number of Courses that include Under Graduate Courses, Post Graduate Courses including Ph. D programmes & Part-Time Courses. It also offers Professional Courses like teaching in the related field and also awards a degree after clearing the examination.

Part-Time courses offered are Diplomas that students earn after successfully completing the programmes. The course duration ranges from two semesters up to two years depending on the course type. These courses include the ‘Jyotisha Diploma Certificate’, ‘Jyotisha Diploma’, ‘Paurohitya Certificate’ & ‘P. G. Diploma in Vasthushastra (Two-Year Course). In addition, other courses include ‘Refresher Courses in Jyotisha (Jyotish Prajna & Jyotish Bhushan)’ & ‘Training Course in Paurohitya (Short Duration)’.

The Vidyapeetha also organises the ‘Sanskrit Sambhashana Shiviram’ event from time to time that encourages conversational Sanskrit.

The Vidyapeetha library stands on a total floor area of 586 sq. m. that spreads on the entire ground level and first level of the building. It also holds an area of 290 sq. m. for stocking purposes. The Library houses over 63,926 books based on various subjects of learning. The library also subscribes to 35 journals in the related field and offers a lending facility to the students who require the books or documents for reference or reading purposes.
