Delhi set to get it's Mayor on January 6

Mayor will be elected by councillors, Lok Sabha MPs, Rajya Sabha MPs and 1/5th of the MLAs.

A Mayor's term is for 5 years.

The last date to file the nominations was decided to be 27 January 2022.

For the first year, the post of Mayor will be reserved for a woman

First year being reserved for the woman candidate, second year will be for open category, third for the reserved category and the last two for open category.

The election will take place during the first meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
