Gandhi Nagar named after the Legendary Father of the Nation ‘Mahatma Gandhi Ji’ is purely a Middle Income Group Residential Colony that also has a well established Commercial Centre of its own in East Delhi. This Region, in fact, homes Asia’s Largest Readymade Garments and Textile retail units which has made Gandhi Nagar a popular region in Delhi.

Gandhi Nagar is one of the Three Sub Districts of East Delhi and is one of the 10 State Legislative Assembly Constituencies that fall under the East Delhi Lok Sabha Constituency. Recently, Gandhi Nagar has seen a huge progress in the development of its infrastructure that was initiated and completed under the financial support and supervision of the State Government of Delhi. The State Government had four well laid and ‘traffic signal free’ roads that links Mayur Vihar Phase – 1 with Gandhi Nagar in order to ensure a smooth and hassle free connectivity. This project cost a whooping amount of Rs. 412 crores which also includes the construction cost of a Bridge that runs across Geeta Colony which was inaugurated in 2009 by Sheila Dixit who is the current Chief Minister of Delhi.

Gandhi Nagar is not only famous for its garment and textile retail market but also for its Educational Institutes that includes renowned schools named Chaudhary Malook Singh School situated in ‘Jheel’, D. A. V. Government School, Gandhi Nagar Girls School, Geeta Bal Bharti, R. A. Geeta Sr. Sec.
