West Delhi is a part of the nine Districts of Delhi and has recently seen major developments in terms of its infrastructure and has provided a great boost to the real estate business. This region is one of the nine administrative districts of the National Capital Territory or NCT and is flanked on the north by North West Delhi, south by South West Delhi, east by Central Delhi and Jhajjar District of Haryana State on the west. It covers a total area of 129 Sq. Km. with over 17.5 Lakhs of inhabitants.
West Delhi has recently grown into as a famous market area as well as a well planned posh residential area. This region homes modern Shopping Complexes, Branded Showrooms and Multiplexes or Movie Theatres, Commercial centres like the famous Janakpuri DC or District Centre flanked by exclusive Boutiques, Fashion Retail outlets, PVR Cinema Hall, Fuel, McDonald, Bercos, Rubys Tuesday, Yo! China and many food outlets and offices of private companies, Public and Private Schools, Colleges and Hospitals like Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital and Indraprastha Hospital. It also houses numerous Multi-cuisine Resto-bars that offer an exquisite variety of food and drinks.
West Delhi is also a residential area dominated by Punjabi families and people of other cultural backgrounds and communities in areas like Punjabi Bagh, Rajouri Garden, West Patel Nagar, East Patel Nagar and Shalimar Bagh.
West Delhi is divided into different areas or zones that include Dwarka [which is situated in the South West District of Delhi], Janakpuri and Rohini [which is situated in the North West District of Delhi] and Sub-Districts that include Punjabi Bagh, Rajouri Garden and Patel Nagar. Other small colonies that fall under the sub district of Punjabi Bagh are Kirti Nagar, Moti Nagar and Pashim Vihar that are mainly residential complexes with individual local shopping centres.
West Delhi is amongst the first area in the Capital City to get Metro connectivity that links it to Central Delhi and other parts of the City. It has numerous cabs / taxi service, buses and auto rickshaws that operate in this region hence providing ease of commuting and accessibility to other places in Delhi.
