NOIDA

NOIDA is a part of the National Capital Region [NCR] of Delhi and is situated on an average elevation of 200 metres above Mean Sea Level. It has a flat topography that covers an area of 3,000 hectares according to the original Master Plan recommended during 1976 – 1977. ‘NOIDA’ is an acronym for ‘New Okhla Industrial Development Authority’ and is situated on the left banks of the Yamuna River and in close proximity to Delhi and Ghaziabad. It was developed during the 1970s near the Yamuna River as a modern industrial city. This Satellite City is considered as one of the preferred destinations for corporate offices and MNCs after Gurgaon. Companies choose NOIDA due to its proximity to Delhi as well as excellent infrastructure. NOIDA encompasses the town of Arun Vihar, Greater NOIDA and Jhundpura.

NOIDA was established on 19th April 1976 and hence every year, this day is celebrated as the ‘NOIDA Day’. In fact this town was created during an emergency period when Sanjay Gandhi took the initiative to form a developed city under the UP Industrial Area Development Act, owing to which, this town is known as one of the most modern cities of India that homes a world class township with high standard infrastructure and amenities.

NOIDA has rapidly grown and developed through the years due to which ongoing plans have been initiated to keep up with growing demand in space. The last two decades has seen substantial influx in population which is estimated to be over half a million residents. This phenomenal rise in population resulted in the creation of ‘Greater NOIDA’, a new township, as per the Master Plan of 2011 in order to meet the growing demand in space and reasonable Housing complexes. Today, this region encompasses a highly unified township that offers facilities for Industrial, Commercial and Residential activities. Authorities are constantly planning and implementing numerous projects in order to cater to the miscellaneous requirements of the residents.

NOIDA falls under the governance of Uttar Pradesh and belongs to the District of Gautam Buddha Nagar; however, its State Legislative seat falls under the ‘NOIDA-Dadri Vidhan Sabha’ region and its Parliamentary Seat is under the ‘Khurja’ Parliamentary Seat.

Roads connecting with Flyovers and Bridges were constructed to enable smooth travelling between these Cities. A bridge over the Yamuna River and the Toll Road connects Delhi with NOIDA in just 20 minutes.

NOIDA boasts of three main expressways that include the famous DND Flyway connecting this region with Delhi and runs along and over the Yamuna River. The second expressway is the NOIDA – Greater NOIDA Expressway while the third is the Yamuna Expressway that connects NOIDA with Agra via Mathura. Areas around these Expressways are fringed with upcoming Residential Complexes, Housing Societies and Commercial Complexes that has greatly boosted the Real Estate Business. Another feature of this city will be a ‘Helipad’ to be constructed by the NOIDA Administration Division in Sector 128. This will enable rapid and efficient transportation services between the Indira Gandhi International Airport and NOIDA with connecting services to the nearby tourist destinations of Agra.

NOIDA also features the ‘Worlds of Wonder’ or ‘W.O.W’ as colloquially expressed by the locals of this town. It is situated adjacent to the popular ‘The Great India Place’ Mall which is also called as ‘GIP’ or ‘TGIP’ in short. ‘W.O.W.’ is a small Amusement Theme Park that showcases 19 rides including several mild attractions.
